We have decided to take you behind the scenes of terptree and introduce you to the members of our team and find out a little more about everyone.
To start things off we took a few minutes out of the day to sit down for a coffee (virtually!) with Erin Parnell, our new Operations Manager to get to know her a little better.
Introducing Erin!
Erin Parnell
Where are you from?
I live in Basingstoke but spent some time up North before coming back a few years ago.
What have you done in your career until now?
I have a law degree but to be honest found it quite boring. I’m a doer by nature and love to get stuff done so operations is a great fit for me. I was a Multi-Unit Manager across the UK for a chain of coffee shops and from there I moved to Amazon, where I was Area Operations Manager, working on the largest print on demand facility in the world. I’ve now made my home at terptree, and I can honestly say this is my dream job – I’m so happy to be here.
What is your proudest achievement?
I also run my own multi-award-winning side business, designing and making breastmilk jewellery, ashes jewellery and DNA jewellery – www.eternallycherished co.uk. and had the honour of being featured in both Vogue and Tatler. I’m so proud of the journey I’ve been on, learning my craft and honing my skills and then starting and growing the business while also having a full-time job and having a family too.
What did you want to be when you were young?
A Nun or a Judge! Yep really! It is all about routine and discipline.
What are you reading?
I love reading but very rarely have the time now due to having a small person with me all the time. When I do get into a book it tends to be a horror or crime/thriller title. I love True Crime stories. I worked in Waterstones while I was a University and that was a real treat for a book lover!
What surprises people about you?
People generally are surprised to find out I’m very musical! I have played or do play the soprano saxophone, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and piano! My musical tastes are very extreme – it’s either heavy metal or classical and nothing in between!
What’s your favourite quote?
“There’s no try only do” – YODA
Funny story – this quote used to sit under my email signature in a previous job and for years someone kept telling people about this quote he loved, only problem being he thought it was me that said it! I’d love to take the credit as it’s a great quote, but no, Yoda said it first!
