Wednesday 27th July 2022
11:00 am – 11:30am

There are 12 million deaf people in the UK, which is 1 in 6 of the population.

No two deaf people are the same, as deaf people have different levels of hearing loss and communication styles.

This webinar is designed to give you an understanding about the different types of deaf people and help you apply this to the deaf students you will be seeing.

From this knowledge, you will be able to tailor your communication to the variety of deaf people you will encounter.

In this webinar you will learn:

Meet Your Speaker

Victoria has worked in the deaf community for her entire career, starting at the British Deaf Association, establishing local support services for the deaf community and working in Mental Health.

Once qualifying as a British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter, Victoria went onto work in a wide range of organisations including the following; BBC, Metropolitan Police, House of Commons, various FSTE 500 companies, Councils and Health Authorities across the country, having even interpreted for the then Prime Minister David Cameron when he addressed the Vodafone team at their Newbury HQ.

14 years ago, Victoria founded terptree – with a strong mission to change the world for deaf people.

Victoria has a drive about her that is contagious and she truly, deeply believes and cares about the work that she is doing. She is able to share her unique insights into how services can best be provided for deaf people whilst being able to creatively look at cost-effective solutions that can have a huge impact on delivery.
