In our work supporting businesses with their Deaf Employee Experience, we have recently been working with Clancy to enable an employee with hearing loss to find a suitable role within the business.
Working collaboratively, we were able to mediate so that Clancy could continue to keep this valued member of the team.
It was fantastic to see such a positive outcome and even better when you see a business that is passionate about continuing their journey to offer an inclusive workplace for deaf employees.
Taking thigs one step further
Michael Ford, Regional People Advisor for Clancy got in touch to see what could be done internally for Deaf Awareness Week.
The team were keen to take discussions further within their teams through their toolbox talks – a series of mini training sessions delivered to employees across the business.
We put together a training pack to be used in the toolbox talks that includes:
• Information about Deaf Awareness Week
• Facts about deaf people in the UK
• How to communicate with a deaf person
• Fingerspelling alphabet
Michael was delighted with this training pack and said:
“Thanks a million. Confident that this will help us to get the word out in an extremely positive manner.”
We can’t wait to see how these materials are used internally and the positive impact that this focus will make
Here is what Clancy had to say about terptree:
Of the support that Clancy received from terptree, Michael said:
