Sign Circle has become a widely popular event within the deaf community and certainly has a big social impact for those who use BSL (British Sign Language). Under the construction of solely volunteers the festival was a big success, but with its increased exposure and bigger scale they knew they needed that little bit extra, thus enabling the Sign Circle festival to continue for many a year to come!
This is where East Lancashire Deaf Society (ELDS) comes in. They agreed a deal with Sign Circle back in 2012. The deal ensured that more stability and protection was provided to allow the festival to survive and thrive. Sign Circle are therefore now a part of ELDS but do continue to retain their own unique identity.
2013 Saw ELDS offer great support with a large number of professionally trained staff. This enabled the 7th instalment of Sign Circle to be the biggest and best yet! It saw over 900 people attend the festival weekend and over 28 different activities for all age groups. The festival was such a success that they have decided to once again make it an annual event!
So When Is Sign Circle & What Is On?
